Mykonos, Greece

We have been fortunate enough to visit the beautiful Greek Island of Mykonos two times already during our time in the Mediterranean. On our first visit we walked around the gorgeous Mykonos town, where the tender boats from the ship drop us off.

On our second visit Sam and I hired quad bikes (or ATVs as they are referred to here) and explored the island with Nate. It was a stunning day and despite the hiccup of a driver’s license being left on the ship we managed to have our vehicles ready to go at about 10am.

First, we visited Paradise and Super Paradise Beaches on the southern side of the island. These are the most popular tourist beaches as the water is very calm and the bays sheltered.

After a swim we drove to the town of Ano Mera and generally explored the southern side of the Island.

In the afternoon we ventured up the northern most Peninsula and its bays. The day was finished with a refreshing drink and swim in a beach near to Mykonos town.

The town itself is just oozing Greek charm, with its narrow painted streets and whitewashed buildings with blue accents. The shopping is very expensive, but if you spend a bit of time looking you can find the delicious Gyros (Greek wraps) for $2-3 Euro.

It is a gorgeous place, and just epitomizes my notion of the Greek Islands.
