Roma Rennaissance

Rome is about 1.5 hours from the port of Civitavecchia. We went on a tour named “Renaissance Rome” for our first visit to the capital. It was very busy and very big, but just oozing excitement. Our tour took us to a few of the main highlights of the old centre and to the Vatican City in the afternoon.

We first went to the Spanish Steps and saw the famous shipwreck fountain, which is currently being restored. From there we walked to the Trevi Fountain and threw coins over our shoulder according to the tradition.

Next, we visited the Pantheon, which was just an incredible step back into history, dating back to before Christ.

We had some free time to get lunch in Navona Square, which used to be an Olympic Arena. Of course we had pizza and gelato.

After this we rejoined our tour groups and visited the Vatican City. The church of St Peter was just spectacular and it was amazing to see the huge square, church and Papal apartments which we always see on TV.
